Conjunctivitis is a common condition which makes the eyes crusty and sore.
What does it look like?
The condition will make the eyes appear red, inflamed, crusty and sticky.
What Are The Causes?
Conjunctivitis is usually caused by bacteria or a viral infection. It can also be caused by an allergic reaction to a substance such as dust or pollen or the eye coming in to contact with things that will irritate it.
How Do I Avoid It?
The best prevention for conjunctivitis is to make sure you:
• Wash your hands regularly
• Use clean towels
• Change your pillow cases regularly
• Do not share your makeup with anyone else
Conjunctivitis can usually clear up on its own but you are always best to get things checked at your local Opticare Opticians. Antibiotic eye drops will usually be recommended by your Optometrist which you can get once referred to your local pharmacy. In some cases antihistamines will be the easiest way to clear it.
